NEW DELHI: An Instagram post by a civil service aspirant, Vani, alleging paralysis from an electrocution at a Rajender Nagar library has prompted a police investigation. Vani reported that the incident occurred on July 23, shortly before the deaths of three students in a flooded basement library in the same area.

She claimed that she received an electric shock while using the biometric attendance system at the Bureaucrat Library and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bareilly, while her parents remain in Delhi. The story gained attention after a video of Vani in the hospital went viral, leading to social media speculation about the shock at the library, which has since been sealed for safety violations.

Dr. Sudeep Saran, who is treating Vani, confirmed the electric shock and described how Vani experienced the shock after touching a metal gate with a live wire hidden in a pool of water. Initially admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, Vani was later transferred to Bareilly, where her father works in the ICU. Dr. Saran reported that while she was in critical condition and paralyzed, she is now slowly recovering.
